Is your data center ready for the future?
At the Blade.org Technology Symposium 2008, Blade.org member companies, end users and stakeholder will convene to discuss the top seven trends shaping the way Blades will be utilized in the coming years. This invitation-only meeting will tell you what to anticipate as innovation in Blade solutions accelerates, and will spotlight solutions to keep you ahead of the game.
When: June 19, 2008
8:00 am- 8:30 am - Registration and Continental Breakfast
8:30 am - 5:00 pm - Technical Program
Where: Bridgewaters
11 Fulton Street New York, NY
Jam-packed with updates from senior technologists about the new topics, and complemented by a customer panel to provide real-life examples of successes and challenges, the Blade.org Technology Symposium will be fast-past, concentrated and revealing.
Expect to hear the latest on these topics.
- Virtualization: We'll explore trends in server, storage and network virtualization affecting the blade server market. As virtualization becomes more pervasive, redundancy and reliability of the underlying hardware and the security of the hypervisor become critical. Performance, usability and integration with applications in a Blades environment will be covered.
- Power and Cooling: During the last few years, there has been an exponential increase in the demand for computer resources leading to a significant growth in the number of data centers along with an equally increasing growth in the energy used by these denser servers, and the power and cooling infrastructure that supports them. The implications of increased energy use include increase in energy costs for businesses and governments, increased emissions of greenhouse gases, and difficulty for existing data centers to power and cool new server installations. Technology trends and strategies allowing increased energy efficiency of servers, storage devices, network equipment and infrastructure systems without compromising data center availability, performance or network security will be presented.
- Security: Information security initiatives have started to play a larger role affecting IT strategy, investment and implementation in business. With the increasing adoption of virtualization, and a tremendous increase in on-line transactions, the vulnerability of IT systems to attacks has also increased. We'll address security standards and encryption technologies that protect against increasingly complex network vulnerabilities and security enforcement.
- Microprocessors and Memory: The rapid increase in processor core count is forcing server designers to rethink the way servers are designed. Further, memory technology has to keep pace with trends driving faster and more powerful processors. We'll explore the trends in microprocessor and memory designs that Blade vendors and customers need to understand to ensure sustained investment protection.
And more....
- Dynamic IT is an operational and technical state that provides the flexibility and speed necessary to meet unexpected application, server, network and storage demands where data management and storage play an integral role. Trends in Dynamic IT, and the benefits of Blade servers for such on-demand requirements, will be a focus of the technical program.
- Networking: The installed base of Ethernet networks is larger than any other alternative technology deployment primarily due to cost efficiency of the networking equipment and the simplicity of Ethernet standards. As 10Gb Ethernet deployment picks up, what is the impact of I/O fabric convergence for data, storage and clustering? What does the future hold for the next wave in high speed networking? We'll look at what the future holds for the next wave in high speed networking, and the resulting impact on Blade server design.
- Storage: Today's data-thirsty computing environment is driving an exponential increase in demand for reliable storage and delivery of data for business critical applications. We'll investigate the trends shaping the storage industry today and focus on those enabling more affordable and flexible storage.
